How to Change Fonts in WordPress

If you want to give your website a more personal and polished feel, changing the fonts is a great place to start. With the help of the built-in Customizer, you can easily update typography globally for consistent styling across your site or tweak individual areas for more control. This flexibility ensures that your site’s text aligns perfectly with your brand’s voice and visual identity.

Note: It’s faster to update fonts globally, but if you want more specific styling, you can change fonts for each section individually.

Change Fonts Globally

Go to your WordPress dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Global Style > Global Fonts. In this area, you can change the fonts for key parts of your site such as the body text, menus, entry meta, and blockquotes. This is the quickest way to apply a consistent typography style throughout your entire site.

Change Fonts Individually

If you prefer to fine-tune fonts for certain areas only, simply navigate to Appearance > Customize and click on the section you’d like to edit (e.g., Header & Menu, Posts & Pages, Site Footer). Each section will have its own font options that let you control font family, size, weight, spacing, and more.

Below are the main typography options you can adjust:

  • Font Family – Pick from a wide selection of Google Fonts. Just select a font that fits your brand’s look and feel from the available list.
  • Variants – Adjust the thickness of your text, such as Light, Regular, Medium, or Bold, depending on what the font offers.
  • Font Size – You can manually enter a size in pixels to change how large or small the text appears.
  • Text Transform – Choose how your text is displayed: you can use normal case, all UPPERCASE, all lowercase, or Capitalize Each Word.
  • Line Height – Modify the vertical spacing between lines of text to improve legibility, especially for paragraphs.
  • Letter Spacing – This setting tweaks the space between individual characters. A little more spacing can make headings stand out.

All font settings include a live preview, so you can see your changes in real time before publishing them.
