Starting with a blank website can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re unsure how to recreate the clean, polished look you saw in the theme demo. That’s why our WordPress themes come with importable demo content to help you get set up quickly.
This guide will walk you through how to import demo layouts, pages, images, menus, widgets, and styling – all in just a few clicks.
Why Import Demo Content?
Importing demo content gives your site a structure to begin with: sample pages, blog posts, layouts, and design settings are all set up for you. It’s like unpacking a fully staged example – so all you need to do is swap in your own text and images.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Before you click that “Import” button, here’s what you should know:
- Your existing content will stay untouched. The demo won’t erase or modify your current posts, pages, or images.
- It will add new demo content like sample posts, pages, widgets, menus, and theme styles.
- If your site already has a lot of content, importing a full demo is not recommended, as it can clutter your site. In that case, you may want to import only the design settings.
Also, make sure your theme is installed and activated, and that any required or recommended plugins are active before starting the import.
How to Import Demo Content or Just the Style
- Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
- In the left-hand menu, go to Appearance > Import Demo Data.
- Browse the list of available demos.
- Choose whether you want to import:
- Full demo content (pages, posts, images, menus, widgets, etc.)
- Only the styling (colors, fonts, layouts – without any demo content)
- Once selected, click the Import button.
- Wait a few moments – the system will do everything for you.
When finished, your site should closely resemble the demo version you saw.
After the Import: What to Tweak
Once the demo is loaded, here are a few areas you might want to adjust:
- Menus
Go to Appearance > Menus to assign or rearrange menu items. - Widgets
Navigate to Appearance > Widgets to modify or remove sidebar and footer widgets. - Pages and Posts
You’ll find all demo pages under Pages > All Pages, and posts under Posts > All Posts — feel free to edit or delete them as needed. - Style & Design
To fine-tune colors, fonts, layouts, and other design details, go to Appearance > Customize.
Final Tip
Importing a demo is a jumpstart, not a final step. Once it’s installed, take time to replace sample text and images with your own – that’s what will make the site truly yours.
