If you’ve used WordPress before, an empty menu might not seem like a big deal. But if you’re new or haven’t used it in a while, you might wonder why there’s nothing showing in your menu after installing a new theme.
To fix this, go to Appearance > Menus in your WordPress dashboard and do the following:
- Make sure you have a menu. If you don’t see one, you’ll need to create it – here’s our guide on how to add a menu and submenu in WordPress.
- Set where the menu should appear. Under your menu items, look for ‘Display Location’ or ‘Menu Settings’. These are the places your theme allows menus, like the header or footer. Choose where you want it to show, then click ‘Save Menu’ button.
